On March 8, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 337 new cases of confirmed infections (104 imported cases, 39 in Guangdong province, 26 in Shanghai municipality, 13 in Sichuan province, 7 in Gansu province, 6 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 5 in Beijing municipality, 3 in Jiangsu province, 2 in Fujian province, 2 in Shandong province and 1 in Yunnan province, including 13 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 8 in Guangdong and 5 in Sichuan; 233 indigenous cases, 94 in Jilin province including 73 in Jilin city, 12 in Changchun and 9 in Yanbian Korean autonomous prefecture, 59 in Shandong including 55 in Qingdao, 2 in Rizhao, 1 in Zibo and 1 in Weihai, 17 in Shaanxi province including 10 in Xi’an, 6 in Baoji and 1 in Hanzhong, 12 in Tianjin municipality including 11 in Xiqing district and 1 in Jinnan district, 11 in Hebei province including 5 in Xingtai, 3 in Baoding, 2 in Shijiazhuang and 1 in Cangzhou, 11 in Lianyungang, Jiangsu, 7 in Guangdong including 6 in Shenzhen and 1 in Dongguan, 6 in Beijing including 4 in Chaoyang district and 2 in Haidian district, 4 in Yunnan including 2 in Kunming and 2 in Dehong Dai and Jingpo autonomous prefecture, 3 in Shanxi province including 2 in Yuncheng and 1 in Jincheng, 3 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region including 2 in Hohhot and 1 in Alshaa League, 3 in Shanghai including 1 in Jing’an district, 1 in Minhang district and 1 in Jiading district, 1 in Shenyang, Liaoning province, 1 in Harbin, Heilongjiang province and 1 in Huzhou, Zhejiang province, including 13 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 9 in Shandong, 2 in Shanxi, 1 in Liaoning and 1 in Guangdong), 15 new cases of suspected infections (all were imported cases in Shanghai), and no deaths. 181 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 7,027 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 1.

As of 24:00 on March 8, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 15,710 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 13,307 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 2,403 confirmed cases (including 2 cases in serious condition) and 22 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on March 8, the National Health Commission had received reports of 111,857 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 103,013 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 4,208 confirmed cases (including 8 cases in serious condition) and 22 suspected cases. 1,714,781 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 106,921 were still under medical observation.

On March 8, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 399 new asymptomatic cases (77 imported cases; 322 indigenous cases, 106 in Shandong including 93 in Qingdao and 13 in Weihai, 80 in Jilin including 65 in Jilin city, 10 in Changchun, 2 in Meihekou, 2 in Yanbian Korean autonomous prefecture and 1 in Songyuan, 62 in Shanghai including 14 in Songjiang district, 11 in Minhang district, 11 in Baoshan district, 9 in Xuhui district, 7 in Jiading district, 3 in Pudong New Area, 3 in Qingpu district, 2 in Putuo district, 1 in Changning district and 1 in Jing’an district, 24 in Yunnan including 23 in Dehong Dai and Jingpo autonomous prefecture and 1 in Lincang, 20 in Dongguan, Guangdong, 14 in Mudanjiang, Heilongjiang, 4 in Lianyungang, Jiangsu, 4 in Guangxi including 2 in Fangchenggang, 1 in Chongzuo and 1 in Baise, 2 in Yuncheng, Shanxi, 2 in Liaoning including 1 in Shenyang and 1 in Dandong, 1 in Alshaa League, Inner Mongolia, 1 in Anqing, Anhui province, 1 in Yubei district, Chongqing municipality and 1 in Baiyin, Gansu). 31 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 27 imported cases) and 26 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 13 imported cases). As of 24:00 on March 8, 2,749 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 1,252 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on March 8, 247,882 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 226,878 in Hong Kong (2,578 had died and 23,679 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 82 in Macao (79 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 20,922 in Taiwan (853 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
