Nantong's pairing assistance work has achieved fruitful results in Yining county, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region. Over 4,500 people who recently rose from poverty have been employed, and the annual per capital income there has reached 30,000 yuan ($4,753.24), local media reported on Feb 25.
Zhang Hua from Haimen district, Nantong, Jiangsu province is the group leader of Nantong's working group for supporting Xinjiang. He has been participating in Yining's development since 2013 and has made significant contributions.
The Yining textile industrial park is a typical example of Nantong's industrial aid to Xinjiang under the pairing assistance system. There are currently 11 home textile and garment enterprises and eight textile and manufacturing enterprises in the park.
Due to Nantong's strength in industry, technology and talent, a full industrial chain consisting of spinning, weaving, and finished product processing has gradually formed, said Zhang.
In addition, through a series of measures such as arranging for excellent teachers from Nantong to teach in Yining, the educational standards of Yining have been comprehensively enhanced. A total of more than 1.1 million books worth 20 million yuan were donated to Yining at Zhang's suggestion.
