36 projects worth $5b investment start construction in SND

Suzhou New District kicked off the construction on 36 key projects with investments totaling 35.8 billion yuan ($5.67 billion) on Feb 26, local media outlets reported.

The projects cover industries including high-end medical apparatus, integrated circuit, software and information technology, and low carbon, laying a solid foundation for SND to develop first-class industrial innovation clusters in the future.

The headquarters project of CSCEC International, which represents an investment of 3 billion yuan, is the largest project. CSCEC International is a subsidiary of the China State Construction Engineering Corporation, a global top 500 investment and construction group which features professional development and market-oriented operation.

"In the future, we will stick to the integration of the Yangtze River Delta region, serve national major strategies, and develop our new development pattern so as to further expand our industrial layout and serve SND's economic and social progress," said Ji Qingsheng, vice-general manager of CSCEC International. "For the next step, we will continue to increase investments in the green industry and strive to invest at least 50 billion yuan in China during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period."

SND has been playing an active role in the integrated development of the YRD region, the Science and Technology Circle around Taihu Lake, and the Industrial Innovation Belt along Shanghai and Nanjing in recent years. It will seize every major opportunity to develop world-leading innovation clusters and become the backbone of Suzhou's industrial scientific and technological innovations.
