Xiamen opens new cross-border e-commerce supervision center

A new cross-border e-commerce supervision center in Xiamen, Fujian province was officially put into operation on Jan 13 to further power the cross-border e-commerce business in the city.

The new supervision center, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Arport Group, is located in the Xiamen Area of the China (Fujian) Pilot Free Trade Zone.

After being put into operation, the center can help shorten the average customs clearance time of import and export goods by more than six hours, and reduce the processing time of loading and unloading transshipment of goods, which can greatly reduce the cost of customers.

In recent years, Xiamen has been bolstering its efforts to form the province's best quality and sustainable cross-border e-commerce ecosystem by expanding cross-border e-commerce trade and improving air logistics capacities, said Lin Zhenya, deputy director of the municipal bureau of commerce.

According to Lin, the imports and exports of the city's cross-border e-commerce platforms generated about 8.55 billion yuan ($1.35 billion) in 2021, up 207 percent from that in 2020.

An assessment of Xiamen Cross-border E-commerce Association showed that the city's gross merchandise volume of cross-border e-commerce export goods hit about $10 billion in 2021, an increase of 25 percent from that in 2020.
