More opportunities should be given to young artists in order to build a culturally strong country, CPPCC member Feng Yuanzheng said in the first Members’ Passage interviews on Friday.
Feng, a veteran actor and member of the 13th National Committee of the CPPCC, said that China’s literary and art scene has entered a new era, and only when the younger generation becomes its main force, can China’s art and literature flourish and grow in a sustainable way.
He said that ever since the Beijing People’s Art Theater moved to a new venue last year they have staged three classics by playwright Cao Yu using a brand new production team consisting of young theater practitioners.
“I believe that with the older generation of artists as role models, and with a good creative atmosphere, even better works will be produced in China’s art and literary scene,” Feng said. “I hope that every young art and literary practitioner excels in both professional skills and moral integrity.”
