March 6: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On March 5, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 329 new cases of confirmed infections (154 imported cases, 72 in Guangdong province, 25 in Shanghai municipality, 17 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 13 in Beijing municipality, 10 in Sichuan province, 6 in Zhejiang province, 4 in Henan province, 2 in Fujian province, 2 in Shandong province, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Jiangsu province and 1 in Gansu province, including 15 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 8 in Guangdong, 4 in Henan, 1 in Tianjin, 1 in Guangxi and 1 in Sichuan; 175 indigenous cases, 88 in Qingdao, Shandong, 25 in Jilin province including 9 in Jilin city, 9 in Yanbian Korean autonomous prefecture and 7 in Changchun, 20 in Guangdong including 17 in Shenzhen, 2 in Dongguan and 1 in Heyuan, 14 in Hebei province including 5 in Shijiazhuang, 4 in Baoding, 4 in Xingtai and 1 in Handan, 9 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region including 7 in Hohhot, 1 in Erdos and 1 in Hulunbuir, 5 in Baise, Guangxi, 4 in Lianyungang, Jiangsu, 4 in Yunnan province including 3 in Dehong Dai and Jingpo autonomous prefecture and 1 in Lincang, 2 in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, 2 in Xi’an, Shaanxi province, 1 in Jinzhong, Shanxi province and 1 in Zhengzhou, Henan, including 3 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 2 in Jilin and 1 in Guangdong), 2 new cases of suspected infections (both were imported cases in Shanghai), and no deaths. 103 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 5,496 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases remained the same.

As of 24:00 on March 5, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 15,343 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 13,062 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 2,281 confirmed cases (including 3 cases in serious condition) and 9 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on March 5, the National Health Commission had received reports of 110,868 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 102,541 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 3,691 confirmed cases (including 14 cases in serious condition) and 9 suspected cases. 1,684,197 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 97,387 were still under medical observation.

On March 5, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 209 new asymptomatic cases (82 imported cases; 127 indigenous cases, 36 in Jilin including 28 in Jilin city, 7 in Yanbian Korean autonomous prefecture and 1 in Siping, 33 in Dongguan, Guangdong, 28 in Shanghai including 7 in Songjiang district, 6 in Minhang district, 4 in Jiading district, 3 in Xuhui district, 2 in Baoshan district, 2 in Pudong New Area, 1 in Huangpu district, 1 in Putuo district, 1 in Qingpu district and 1 in Fengxian district, 17 in Dehong Dai and Jingpo autonomous prefecture, Yunnan, 7 in Guangxi including 6 in Fangchenggang and 1 in Baise, 3 in Lianyungang, Jiangsu, 1 in Jiaxing, Zhejiang, 1 in Wuhan, Hubei province and 1 in Sanya, Hainan province ). 44 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 39 imported cases) and 18 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 15 imported cases). As of 24:00 on March 5, 1,647 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 1,077 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on March 5, 208,357 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 187,478 in Hong Kong (1,774 had died and 21,888 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 82 in Macao (79 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 20,797 in Taiwan (853 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
