A massive, heavy-lift ship called the Herbert, made by the Chinese-Polish Joint Stock Shipping Co, set off from Tianjin Port on Tuesday on its maiden voyage to Uddevalla, Sweden.
The ship, which boasts the greatest load capacity of any vessel in the world, is carrying 174 wind power units made by wind engineering company Siemens Gamesa, including nacelles (cover housings), hubs and accessories, with a total volume 3,056 cubic meters.
Tianjin Port, one of the top 10 ports in the world, said the voyage of the Herbert reflects the port's commitment to support green power development and its deep collaboration with leading shipping and wind power companies.
The Herbert has a load capacity of 62,000 metric tons. It is 199.9 meters long, 32.26 meters wide and has a draft of 13.5 meters.
Its freight hold has a total area of 166m x 30m, which is equivalent to 14 basketball courts.
The Chinese-Polish Joint Stock Shipping Co, which was established in June 1951, was the first joint venture company since the founding of the People's Republic of China.
