March 4: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On March 3, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 294 new cases of confirmed infections (233 imported cases, 117 in Guangdong province, 43 in Shanghai municipality, 26 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 13 in Sichuan province, 9 in Beijing municipality, 7 in Zhejiang province, 5 in Henan province, 3 in Tianjin municipality, 3 in Jilin province, 2 in Fujian province, 2 in Shandong province, 2 in Yunnan province and 1 in Heilongjiang province, including 14 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 6 in Guangdong, 4 in Sichuan, 2 in Henan, 1 in Heilongjiang and 1 in Zhejiang; 61 indigenous cases, 22 in Shenzhen, Guangdong, 9 in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 5 in Hebei province including 4 in Xingtai and 1 in Shijiazhuang, 5 in Jilin including 4 in Yanbian Korean autonomous prefecture and 1 in Jilin city, 4 in Wuhan, Hubei province, 4 in Yunnan including 2 in Honghe Hani and Yi autonomous prefecture, 1 in Baoshan and 1 in Dehong Dai and Jingpo autonomous prefecture, 3 in Harbin, Heilongjiang, 3 in Fangchenggang, Guangxi, 2 in Shanghai including 1 in Minhang district and 1 in Songjiang district, 2 in Wenzhou, Zhejiang, 1 in Dongli district, Tianjin and 1 in Xuzhou, Jiangsu province, including 5 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 2 in Guangxi, 2 in Yunnan and 1 in Guangdong), 4 new cases of suspected infections (all were imported cases in Shanghai), and no deaths. 84 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 3,833 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 2.

As of 24:00 on March 3, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 15,010 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 12,973 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 2,037 confirmed cases (including 2 cases in serious condition) and 7 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on March 3, the National Health Commission had received reports of 110,258 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 102,318 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 3,304 confirmed cases (including 18 cases in serious condition) and 7 suspected cases. 1,664,814 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 89,609 were still under medical observation.

On March 3, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 150 new asymptomatic cases (94 imported cases; 56 indigenous cases, 14 in Shanghai including 9 in Putuo district, 3 in Songjiang district and 2 in Baoshan district, 14 in Yunnan including 10 in Dehong Dai and Jingpo autonomous prefecture and 4 in Baoshan, 11 in Jilin including 7 in Jilin city, 3 in Yanbian Korean autonomous prefecture and 1 in Liaoyuan, 6 in Guangdong including 5 in Dongguan and 1 in Shenzhen, 5 in Heilongjiang including 4 in Harbin and 1 in Heihe, 5 in Fangchenggang, Guangxi and 1 in Sanya, Hainan province). 42 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 34 imported cases) and 19 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 14 imported cases). As of 24:00 on March 3, 1,387 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 997 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on March 3, 158,880 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 138,145 in Hong Kong (1,366 had died and 20,649 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 82 in Macao (79 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 20,653 in Taiwan (853 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
