A total of 81 public projects with a total investment of 32 billion yuan ($5.07 billion) started construction in Xinwu district, Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province, on Feb 22.
In addition, construction finished on another 95 public projects in the district worth 10 billion yuan.
The projects include construction of roads, bridges, resettlement apartments, and schools, as well as improvements in livelihood services and the landscape environment.
All 176 of the projects were invested in by the government as an effort to optimize the transport network and improve urban functions and the living environment.
The water quality and natural environment of seven rivers in Xin'an sub-district have been improved after receiving 82 million yuan in investment.
With an investment of 130.5 million yuan, more parking spaces will also be provided to visitors touring Bodu River's culture park and sports park.
The government will also spend 310 million yuan on a new junior high school in Meicun sub-district. The Meicun Junior High School will cover an area of 55,336 square meters and provide 48 classes for students.
