Feb 27: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Feb 26, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 239 new cases of confirmed infections (127 imported cases, 43 in Shanghai municipality, 35 in Guangdong province, 10 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 8 in Beijing municipality, 6 in Sichuan province, 5 in Fujian province, 4 in Jiangsu province, 4 in Yunnan province, 2 in Tianjin municipality, 2 in Liaoning province, 2 in Jilin province, 2 in Zhejiang province, 2 in Shandong province and 2 in Hubei province, including 12 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 6 in Guangdong, 2 in Sichuan, 2 in Yunnan, 1 in Liaoning and 1 in Zhejiang; 112 indigenous cases, 48 in Guangdong including 26 in Shenzhen and 22 in Dongguan, 38 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region including 35 in Hohhot, 2 in Hulunbuir and 1 in Baotou, 7 in Fangchenggang, Guangxi, 6 in Huludao, Liaoning, 3 in Dongli district, Tianjin, 3 in Sichuan including 2 in Chengdu and 1 in Meishan, 2 in Beijing including 1 in Chaoyang district and 1 in Changping district, 2 in Suzhou, Jiangsu, 2 in Lincang, Yunnan and 1 in Taiyuan, Shanxi province, including 1 confirmed case converting from an asymptomatic case in Sichuan), 7 new cases of suspected infections (all were imported cases in Shanghai), and no deaths. 82 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,251 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 1.

As of 24:00 on Feb 26, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 14,192 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 12,788 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,404 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 9 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Feb 26, the National Health Commission had received reports of 109,092 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 101,868 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 2,588 confirmed cases (including 19 cases in serious condition) and 9 suspected cases. 1,625,299 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 69,826 were still under medical observation.

On Feb 26, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 100 new asymptomatic cases (78 imported cases; 22 indigenous cases, 12 in Yunnan including 9 in Lincang and 3 in Honghe Hani and Yi autonomous prefecture, 5 in Guangdong including 4 in Shenzhen and 1 in Dongguan, 3 in Heihe, Heilongjiang province, 1 in Dongli district, Tianjin and 1 in Pudong New Area, Shanghai). 43 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 42 imported cases) and 13 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 12 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Feb 26, 924 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 733 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Feb 26, 64,839 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 44,386 in Hong Kong (577 had died and 17,855 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 80 in Macao (79 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 20,373 in Taiwan (853 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
