Feb 26: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Feb 25, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 249 new cases of confirmed infections (156 imported cases, 59 in Guangdong province, 55 in Shanghai municipality, 7 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 6 in Tianjin municipality, 6 in Fujian province, 6 in Yunnan province, 4 in Beijing municipality, 4 in Zhejiang province, 4 in Shandong province, 2 in Jiangsu province, 2 in Chongqing municipality and 1 in Gansu province, including 30 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 22 in Guangdong, 4 in Zhejiang and 4 in Guangxi; 93 indigenous cases, 32 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region including 30 in Hohhot and 2 in Hulunbuir, 30 in Guangdong including 19 in Dongguan, 9 in Shenzhen and 2 in Zhuhai, 10 in Huludao, Liaoning province, 9 in Fangchenggang, Guangxi, 4 in Suzhou, Jiangsu, 3 in Yunnan including 2 in Lincang and 1 in Honghe Hani and Yi autonomous prefecture, 2 in Chengdu, Sichuan province, 1 in Chaoyang district, Beijing, 1 in Jixi, Heilongjiang province and 1 in Xiamen, Fujian, including 1 confirmed case converting from an asymptomatic case in Jiangsu), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 72 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 2,608 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases remained the same.

As of 24:00 on Feb 25, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 14,065 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 12,747 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,318 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 4 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Feb 25, the National Health Commission had received reports of 108,853 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 101,786 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 2,431 confirmed cases (including 18 cases in serious condition) and 4 suspected cases. 1,615,287 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 61,070 were still under medical observation.

On Feb 25, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 118 new asymptomatic cases (88 imported cases; 30 indigenous cases, 17 in Yunnan including 12 in Lincang, 4 in Honghe Hani and Yi autonomous prefecture and 1 in Dehong Dai and Jingpo autonomous prefecture, 9 in Shenzhen, Guangdong, 2 in Sichuan including 1 in Chengdu and 1 in Meishan, 1 in Heihe, Heilongjiang and 1 in Baoshan district, Shanghai). 23 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (17 were imported cases) and 31 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (30 were imported cases). As of 24:00 on Feb 25, 880 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 709 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Feb 25, 59,276 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 38,892 in Hong Kong (497 had died and 17,562 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 80 in Macao (79 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 20,304 in Taiwan (853 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
