Feb 25: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Feb 24, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 224 new cases of confirmed infections (142 imported cases, 59 in Shanghai municipality, 52 in Guangdong province, 8 in Beijing municipality, 7 in Sichuan province, 4 in Fujian province, 4 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 2 in Jilin province, 2 in Jiangsu province, 1 in Heilongjiang province, 1 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Shandong province and 1 in Hubei province, including 31 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 25 in Guangdong and 6 in Sichuan; 82 indigenous cases, 30 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region including 28 in Hohhot and 2 in Baotou, 18 in Huludao, Liaoning province, 8 in Shenzhen, Guangdong, 5 in Chengdu, Sichuan, 5 in Yunnan province including 4 in Honghe Hani and Yi autonomous prefecture and 1 in Lincang, 4 in Fangchenggang, Guangxi, 3 in Shanxi province including 2 in Jinzhong and 1 in Taiyuan, 2 in Beijing including 1 in Chaoyang district and 1 in Tongzhou district, 2 in Suzhou, Jiangsu, 2 in Wuhan, Hubei, 1 in Dongli district, Tianjin municipality, 1 in Jixi, Heilongjiang and 1 in Qingdao, Shandong, including 4 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 2 in Sichuan, 1 in Heilongjiang and 1 in Yunnan), 7 new cases of suspected infections (all were imported cases in Shanghai), and no deaths. 68 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,499 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases remained the same.

As of 24:00 on Feb 24, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 13,909 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 12,710 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,199 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 7 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Feb 24, the National Health Commission had received reports of 108,604 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 101,714 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 2,254 confirmed cases (including 18 cases in serious condition) and 7 suspected cases. 1,607,712 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 56,114 were still under medical observation.

On Feb 24, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 109 new asymptomatic cases (87 imported cases; 22 indigenous cases, 9 in Yunnan including 7 in Lincang, 1 in Honghe Hani and Yi autonomous prefecture and 1 in Dehong Dai and Jingpo autonomous prefecture, 5 in Shenzhen, Guangdong, 4 in Sichuan including 2 in Deyang and 2 in Mianyang, 3 in Heihe, Heilongjiang and 1 in Minhang district, Shanghai). 32 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (21 were imported cases) and 35 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (31 were imported cases). As of 24:00 on Feb 24, 816 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 668 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Feb 24, 55,368 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 35,052 in Hong Kong (425 had died and 17,272 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 80 in Macao (79 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 20,236 in Taiwan (852 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
