Feb 24: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Feb 23, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 186 new cases of confirmed infections (101 imported cases, 44 in Guangdong province, 24 in Shanghai municipality, 7 in Beijing municipality, 6 in Fujian province, 5 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 4 in Hubei province, 3 in Jilin province, 3 in Sichuan province, 2 in Yunnan province, 2 in Gansu province and 1 in Tianjin municipality, including 9 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 8 in Guangdong and 1 in Sichuan; 85 indigenous cases, 40 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region including 37 in Hohhot and 3 in Baotou, 10 in Wuhan, Hubei, 8 in Huludao, Liaoning province, 8 in Shenzhen, Guangdong, 6 in Chengdu, Sichuan, 3 in Suzhou, Jiangsu, 3 in Fangchenggang, Guangxi, 3 in Yunnan including 2 in Lincang and 1 in Honghe Hani and Yi autonomous prefecture, 2 in Xicheng district, Beijing and 2 in Shanxi province including 1 in Jinzhong and 1 in Xinzhou, including 4 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 3 in Sichuan and 1 in Yunnan), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 48 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,263 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 4.

As of 24:00 on Feb 23, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 13,767 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 12,681 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,086 confirmed cases (including 2 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Feb 23, the National Health Commission had received reports of 108,380 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 101,646 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 2,098 confirmed cases (including 18 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 1,599,801 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 49,711 were still under medical observation.

On Feb 23, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 112 new asymptomatic cases (88 imported cases; 24 indigenous cases, 7 in Lincang, Yunnan, 5 in Heilongjiang province including 4 in Heihe and 1 in Jixi, 5 in Suzhou, Jiangsu, 4 in Chengdu, Sichuan, 1 in Shijiazhuang, Hebei province, 1 in Wuhan, Hubei and 1 in Shenzhen, Guangdong). 28 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 21 imported cases) and 13 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 9 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Feb 23, 774 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 633 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Feb 23, 52,774 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 32,538 in Hong Kong (385 had died and 17,015 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 80 in Macao (79 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 20,156 in Taiwan (852 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
