Beijing's Fengtai district reported an asymptomatic imported case of COVID-19 in a residential community on Monday.

The district's disease prevention and control center said in a statement that the case was discovered during an inspection period and was found positive for the coronavirus through a routine test.

The patient has been sent to a designated hospital.

Health authorities said the patient had completed 21 days of centralized quarantine outside the city and tested negative in the first two rounds of tests during the inspection period.

Inbound travelers to Beijing are required to undergo 21 days of centralized quarantine, seven days of home isolation and seven days of health inspections.

Fengtai district began mass COVID-19 testing in the residential community at 5 pm on Sunday and urged all residents to stay home. Around 2,500 people have been sampled so far, with 145 environmental samples collected in the place where the patient lived and visited. All results came back negative.

Tracing and screening continue, the district said.
