Shanghai unveils new legislation plan

The Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Justice on Wednesday unveiled its 2022 legislation plan which covers 66 laws and regulations aimed at promoting the local business environment, serving the needs of residents, and strengthening legal supervision and city management.

According to Lu Weidong, director of the bureau, new regulations on the development of the artificial intelligence industry will be formulated to facilitate the city's pursuit of becoming a scientific and technological innovation center with global influence. 

Upgrades will also be made to the regulations regarding China International Import Expo services and the Shanghai Hongqiao International Central Business Zone.

With regard to residents, employment rules will be modified this year to foster a more stable labor market. The regulations will also touch on educational equity and children's physical and mental health, as well as preschool and nursery services.

Furthermore, regulations on fields including environmental protection and elevator management will be revised to build a safer city.

According to Lu, new administrative law enforcement supervision regulations will also be drafted to accelerate the implementation of the law enforcement publicity mechanism, the law enforcement record system, and the legal review system.
