The China Association for Science and Technology recently announced its first list of 800 national science popularization education bases in 2021-25, including 165 museums and memorial halls.
Seven museums in Northwest China's Shaanxi province were placed on the list, including five located in Xi'an, capital of the province.
The five museums in Xi'an are the Hanyangling Museum, the International Museum of Stomatology at the No 3 Affiliated Hospital of Air Force Medical University of PLA, Shaanxi Nature Museum, the Northwest University Museum and the Transportation Museum of Chang'an University.
Hanyangling Museum
The museum was built with the Hanyangling Mausoleum as its centerpiece – the cemetery where Emperor Jing of the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 24) Liu Qi and his queen were buried together.
The extensive and profound Han culture, the rich unearthed cultural relics and the exquisite garden make the museum a large-scale cultural tourism scenic spot with unique charms.
International Museum of Stomatology at No 3 Affiliated Hospital of Air Force Medical University of PLA
The exhibition area of the museum covers more than 2,100 square meters. It is divided into two exhibition halls, with a total of 18 themed exhibition areas.
There are more than 7,800 exhibits of various types from more than 30 countries in the world, including ancient animal teeth and jaw fossils from 120 million years ago.
Shaanxi Nature Museum
With a construction area of 16,000 square meters, the Shaanxi Nature Museum is divided into three exhibition halls, two experience cinemas and one experience area.
The museum is said to open a window for tourists to explore the mysteries of nature and appreciate the magic of species, with rich collections and high-quality services.
Northwest University Museum
The Northwest University Museum is a large-scale comprehensive university museum with four branches related to the university's history, as well as collections covering the earth, biology and history.
The museum covers seven basic displays, including paleontological fossils during the Cambrian Period, biodiversity in the Qinba Mountains and Loess Plateau and cultural relics.
Transportation Museum of Chang'an University
The museum has more than 200,000 words of displayed texts, more than 6,000 pictures and more than 20 featured videos. It also has 72 sets of modern cultural relics, such as highway professional collections and professional books, and more than 200 sets of professional teaching model collections, specimens and sand tables.
