Feb 16: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Feb 15, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 102 new cases of confirmed infections (56 imported cases, 24 in Guangdong province, 13 in Shanghai municipality, 6 in Fujian province, 3 in Shandong province, 3 in Yunnan province, 2 in Hunan province, 2 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Liaoning province and 1 in Sichuan province, including 10 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 9 in Guangdong and 1 in Sichuan; 46 indigenous cases, 19 in Jiangsu province including 18 in Suzhou and 1 in Nantong, 15 in Huludao, Liaoning, 7 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region including 5 in Hulunbuir and 2 in Hohhot, 3 in Shenzhen, Guangdong and 2 in Baise, Guangxi), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 81 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 3,623 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 1.

As of 24:00 on Feb 15, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 13,144 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 12,423 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 721 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 1 suspected case.

As of 24:00 on Feb 15, the National Health Commission had received reports of 107,196 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 101,141 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,419 confirmed cases (including 7 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case. 1,564,392 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 29,391 were still under medical observation.

On Feb 15, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 28 new asymptomatic cases (23 imported cases; 5 indigenous cases, 3 in Jiangsu including 2 in Wuxi and 1 in Suzhou, 1 in Guangzhou, Guangdong and 1 in Wenshan Zhuang and Miao autonomous prefecture, Yunnan). 58 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 53 imported cases) and 10 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (all were imported cases). As of 24:00 on Feb 15, 751 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 674 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Feb 15, 38,844 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 19,099 in Hong Kong (224 had died and 14,996 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 79 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 19,666 in Taiwan (852 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
