Suzhou, Jiangsu province, reported three new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, the local government said at a news conference. Two neighboring cities of Suzhou also reported positive cases.
As of 3 pm Tuesday, Suzhou had reported 11 confirmed and four asymptomatic cases, said Gu Haidong, executive vice-mayor of the Suzhou government. All patients are receiving treatment at a local designated hospital.
Of the 3,886 samples taken from the patients' living environments, 60 showed positive results as of 2 pm.
The city has classified seven areas as being at medium risk of containing the virus and closed 15 highway entrances since Tuesday. Anybody leaving Suzhou by car should present a negative nucleic acid test taken within the last 48 hours.
Intercity buses have also been suspended in Suzhou to help contain the virus.
Wuxi, also in Jiangsu province, reported two locally transmitted cases on Tuesday, according to the Wuxi government.
Another neighboring city, Nantong, also reported one positive test on Tuesday. The cases have been preliminarily determined as related to the outbreak in Suzhou.
