The current 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics will feature a range of distinctive high-tech advancements developed by Shanghai universities.
Six-legged skiing robot
Engineers from Shanghai Jiao Tong University created a six-legged skiing robot that is controlled by human-computer interaction for the Winter Olympics.
Not only can it ski at great speeds, but it can also plan the best path on its own. It can walk around skiers in a genuine skiing area using wireless remote human-computer interface control, allowing skiers to experience the fun of skiing alongside the robot.
In addition, the robot may patrol and rescue skiers in the mountains, assisting in maintaining a safe skiing environment.
High-tech torch shell
Donghua University's technology team was able to create high-precision carbon fiber composite materials for the Winter Olympics torches' shells.
Sun Yize, the team leader, described the torch's technology as "high-tech materials, high-tech equipment, and high-tech manufacturing." According to him, the torch is a great blend of beautiful designing and technological advancements.
Artificial snow-making machine
The University of Science and Technology of Shanghai assisted in the creation of artificial snow for the Winter Olympics.
The university's project team worked for nearly a year to construct efficient and intelligent snow-making devices, and they offered a wealth of experimental data to back up their findings.
