The Wuxi National Hi-tech District will continue to make efforts to attract funds and talent in 2022, according to a conference hosted by the district's management committee on Feb 6.
WND is an important industrial cluster in Wuxi. In 2021, the number of newly approved major industrial projects with investment exceeding 100 million yuan ($15.74 million) reached a record 145, a year-on-year increase of 20 percent. A total of 2,450 technology companies were established in WND in 2021, a year-on-year increase of 65.5 percent.
In 2022, WND plans to attract 151 projects with investment exceeding 100 million yuan, among which 18 projects with over 1 billion yuan each in investment, five projects with over 5 billion yuan each in investment, and two projects with over 10 billion yuan each in investment. The actual use of foreign capital is expected to reach $1.44 billion, and a total of 14 projects are expected to attract over $30 million in foreign investment.
In addition, in 2022, WND expects to have 708 new scientific and technological projects led by talent, 118 effective declaration tasks for major national talent projects, 20 provincial innovation and entrepreneurship talent projects, 60 municipal innovation and entrepreneurial talent projects, and 26,000 new young talents.
During the conference, WND launched investment centers for 12 key industries, including integrated circuits, biomedicine and medical devices, internet of things, high-end equipment, auto parts, new energy, aerospace, the service industry, the cultural industry, artificial intelligence, metaverse, and digital software.
