Feb 10: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Feb 9, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 29 new cases of confirmed infections (22 imported cases, 9 in Guangdong province, 8 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Jilin province, 1 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Fujian province and 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, including 2 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 1 in Guangdong and 1 in Guangxi; 7 indigenous cases in Baise, Guangxi), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai), and no deaths. 96 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 3,263 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.

As of 24:00 on Feb 9, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 12,847 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 12,207 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 640 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 1 suspected case.

As of 24:00 on Feb 9, the National Health Commission had received reports of 106,663 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 100,599 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,428 confirmed cases (including 4 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case. 1,551,339 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 40,352 were still under medical observation.

On Feb 9, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 28 new asymptomatic cases (27 imported cases; 1 indigenous case in Shenyang, Liaoning province). 39 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 31 imported cases) and 2 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (both were imported cases). As of 24:00 on Feb 9, 824 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 739 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Feb 9, 35,183 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 15,811 in Hong Kong (215 had died and 13,436 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 79 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 19,293 in Taiwan (851 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
