Feb 9: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Feb 8, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 110 new cases of confirmed infections (37 imported cases, 18 in Guangdong province, 9 in Shanghai municipality, 5 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 2 in Fujian province, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Tianjin municipality and 1 in Sichuan province, including 4 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 1 in Beijing, 1 in Guangdong, 1 in Guangxi and 1 in Sichuan; 73 indigenous cases, 72 in Baise, Guangxi and 1 in Huludao, Liaoning province, including 2 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases in Guangxi), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 88 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 2,975 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 1.

As of 24:00 on Feb 8, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 12,825 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 12,159 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 666 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Feb 8, the National Health Commission had received reports of 106,634 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 100,503 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,495 confirmed cases (including 4 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 1,548,704 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 40,980 were still under medical observation.

On Feb 8, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 24 new asymptomatic cases (23 imported cases; 1 indigenous case in Heihe, Heilongjiang province). 53 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 40 imported cases) and 6 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 4 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Feb 8, 837 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 745 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Feb 8, 34,494 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 15,176 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 13,315 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 79 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 19,239 in Taiwan (851 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
