Yantai in East China’s Shandong province is known as the "snow nest" of China due to the large amounts of snowfall it receives every year. Blessed with exceptional seasonal advantages, winter sports in Yantai have been on the rise in recent years.
"With the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games just around the corner, we've received a large number of winter sports enthusiasts recently," said Hao Pijie, the person in charge of Tashan Ski Resort.
"Ice and snow sports have caught more attention among Yantai residents during the winter season, and more and more people choose to go out to enjoy the excitement of ice and snow sports on-site," Hao added.
Since China set a goal to get 300 million people involved in winter sports, and the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games is creating a buzz around winter sports, more younger people have been given access to education and facilities pertaining to such activities in Yantai.
Statistics show that the city now has seven ice and snow enterprises, including five skiing venues and two ice skating rinks, and Yantai Huaxing Ice Sports Complex was listed as a provincial training base.
By making full use of its unique ice and snow resources, Yantai has undertaken many international and national winter sports events in recent years, which has helped raise Yantai's profile as a hot destination for winter tourism.
The city will also give full play to its natural advantages to make ice and snow sports a new name card of Yantai.
