Huangpu's provincial new-type R&D institution number increases

Twelve institutions from Huangpu district were recently recognized as new-type R&D institutions of Guangdong province, according to a public notice released by the Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province.

The Institute of Corrosion Science and Technology was jointly established by Huangpu and the Institute of Metal Research of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). It is committed to the research and development of metal corrosion protection and new materials.

The Guangzhou research institute of Xidian University is a postgraduate student cultivation base that strives to realize an integration of academia and industries. It focuses on Xidian University's advantageous disciplines like microwave communication, electronic information, and artificial intelligence. The institute's disciplines also echo the pillar industries in China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City.

The Guangzhou research institute of Xidian University is recognized as a provincial new-type R&D institution.

Other entries included the Huangpu Institute of Materials, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Research Institute of the CAS Aerospace Information Research Institute, and Guangzhou Bio-gene Technology. 

As of now, Huangpu is home to 39 provincial new-type R&D institutions, the highest number of new-type R&D institutions in Guangzhou. In 2020, the district allocated more than 2 billion yuan ($314 million) to support the development of local new-type R&D institutions.
