Chongli, Hebei province

Since Beijing and Zhangjiakou won the bid for the 2022 Winter Olympic Games, Chongli district in Zhangjiakou, one of the competition places has undergone great changes, from a poverty-stricken area to an international-level ice and snow town with large-scale ski resorts.

The Taiwoo Ski Resort, one of the seven large-scale resorts in Chongli, is located in the core sports venue of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games. Since its opening in 2015, the number of tourists has increased nearly five times. In 2019, more than 260,000 people went skiing there in the snow season.

Taking the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games as an opportunity, Chongli aims to build a world-renowned ice and snow tourism resort. In the past five years, the total investment in the new ski tourism projects has reached more than 37 billion yuan ($5.83 billion), which is nearly 15 times the total investment in the past two decades.
