Feb 4: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Feb 3, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 29 new cases of confirmed infections (17 imported cases, 8 in Guangdong province, 7 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Beijing municipality and 1 in Fujian province, including 1 confirmed case converting from an asymptomatic case in Guangdong; 12 indigenous cases, 5 in Guangdong including 4 in Shenzhen and 1 in Huizhou, 4 in Hebei district, Tianjin municipality, 2 in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province and 1 in Chaoyang district, Beijing, including 1 confirmed case converting from an asymptomatic case in Guangdong), 4 new cases of suspected infections (all were imported cases in Shanghai), and no deaths. 97 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,437 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 2.

As of 24:00 on Feb 3, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 12,666 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 11,911 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 755 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 4 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Feb 3, the National Health Commission had received reports of 106,270 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 99,961 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,673 confirmed cases (including 6 cases in serious condition) and 4 suspected cases. 1,539,398 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 42,398 were still under medical observation.

On Feb 3, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 52 new asymptomatic cases (51 imported cases; 1 indigenous case in Yunfu, Guangdong). 36 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 2 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 1 imported case). As of 24:00 on Feb 3, 869 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 754 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Feb 3, 33,050 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 14,013 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 12,880 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 79 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 18,958 in Taiwan (851 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
