Feb 2: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Feb 1, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 63 new cases of confirmed infections (27 imported cases, 18 in Shanghai municipality, 5 in Guangdong province, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Jilin province, 1 in Henan province and 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, including 2 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 1 in Beijing and 1 in Guangdong; 36 indigenous cases, 15 in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, 12 in Tianjin municipality including 6 in Hebei district, 4 in Binhai New Area and 2 in Hedong district, 6 in Guangdong including 2 in Shenzhen, 1 in Huizhou, 1 in Meizhou, 1 in Heyuan and 1 in Yunfu, 2 in Fengtai district, Beijing and 1 in Hengshui, Hebei province), no suspected cases, and no deaths. 145 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,964 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 1.

As of 24:00 on Feb 1, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 12,631 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 11,822 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 809 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Feb 1, the National Health Commission had received reports of 106,202 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 99,764 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,802 confirmed cases (including 9 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 1,533,257 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 44,522 were still under medical observation.

On Feb 1, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 28 new asymptomatic cases (24 imported cases; 4 indigenous cases in Guangdong including 3 in Yunfu and 1 in Shenzhen). 30 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 27 imported cases) and 2 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (both were imported cases). As of 24:00 on Feb 1, 810 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 688 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Feb 1, 32,758 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 13,829 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 12,806 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 79 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 18,850 in Taiwan (851 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
