Feb 1: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Jan 31, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 66 new cases of confirmed infections (39 imported cases, 18 in Shanghai municipality, 8 in Guangdong province, 5 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 3 in Shandong province, 2 in Beijing municipality, 2 in Tianjin municipality and 1 in Henan province, including 5 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 2 in Tianjin, 2 in Guangdong and 1 in Henan; 27 indigenous cases, 13 in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, 7 in Tianjin including 4 in Hebei district, 2 in Hongqiao district and 1 in Jinnan district, 4 in Hengshui, Hebei province, 2 in Beijing including 1 in Chaoyang district and 1 in Fengtai district, and 1 in Shenzhen, Guangdong), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 119 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 2,664 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases remained the same.

As of 24:00 on Jan 31, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 12,604 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 11,748 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 856 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Jan 31, the National Health Commission had received reports of 106,139 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 99,619 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,884 confirmed cases (including 10 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 1,529,275 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 42,504 were still under medical observation.

On Jan 31, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 32 new asymptomatic cases (31 imported cases; 1 indigenous case in Fengtai district, Beijing). 25 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 20 imported cases) and 5 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (all were imported cases). As of 24:00 on Jan 31, 814 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 693 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Jan 31, 32,614 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 13,745 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 12,780 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 79 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 18,790 in Taiwan (851 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
