Jan 31: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Jan 30, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 58 new cases of confirmed infections (18 imported cases, 10 in Shanghai municipality, 7 in Guangdong province and 1 in Fujian province, including 3 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases in Guangdong; 40 indigenous cases, 24 in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, 11 in Tianjin municipality including 8 in Hebei district and 3 in Binhai New Area, 3 in Beijing municipality including 2 in Fengtai district and 1 in Chaoyang district, 1 in Mudanjiang, Heilongjiang province, and 1 in Ruzhou, Henan province, including 1 confirmed case converting from an asymptomatic case in Henan), 3 new cases of suspected infections (all were imported cases in Shanghai), and no deaths. 147 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 3,721 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases remained the same.

As of 24:00 on Jan 30, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 12,565 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 11,697 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 868 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 4 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Jan 30, the National Health Commission had received reports of 106,073 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 99,500 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,937 confirmed cases (including 10 cases in serious condition) and 4 suspected cases. 1,522,986 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 38,879 were still under medical observation.

On Jan 30, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 52 new asymptomatic cases (48 imported cases; 4 indigenous cases in Qiqihar, Heilongjiang). 36 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 4 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 3 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Jan 30, 812 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 687 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Jan 30, 32,493 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 13,679 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 12,753 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 79 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 18,735 in Taiwan (851 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
