Jan 29: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Jan 28, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 59 new cases of confirmed infections (22 imported cases, 10 in Shanghai municipality, 6 in Guangdong province, 2 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Liaoning province, 1 in Jiangsu province and 1 in Chongqing municipality, including 2 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases in Guangdong; 37 indigenous cases, 18 in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, 5 in Beijing municipality including 4 in Fengtai district and 1 in Xicheng district, 5 in Hebei district, Tianjin, 3 in Ili Kazak autonomous prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 2 in Mudanjiang, Heilongjiang province, 1 in Baoding, Hebei province, 1 in Datong, Shanxi province, 1 in Anyang, Henan province and 1 in the fourth division of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 200 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 5,252 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 1.

As of 24:00 on Jan 28, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 12,520 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 11,562 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 958 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 1 suspected case.

As of 24:00 on Jan 28, the National Health Commission had received reports of 105,934 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 99,171 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 2,127 confirmed cases (including 8 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case. 1,514,010 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 38,625 were still under medical observation.

On Jan 28, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 32 new asymptomatic cases (29 imported cases; 3 indigenous cases, 1 in Sanmenxia, Henan, 1 in Ili Kazak autonomous prefecture, Xinjiang and 1 in the fourth division of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps). 61 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 57 imported cases) and 2 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (both were imported cases). As of 24:00 on Jan 28, 777 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 666 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Jan 28, 32,246 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 13,533 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 12,710 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 79 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 18,634 in Taiwan (851 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
