Jan 28: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Jan 27, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 64 new cases of confirmed infections (25 imported cases, 7 in Shanghai municipality, 7 in Guangdong province, 5 in Yunnan province, 2 in Beijing municipality, 2 in Shandong province, 1 in Zhejiang province and 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, including 1 confirmed case converting from an asymptomatic case in Guangdong; 39 indigenous cases, 16 in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, 9 in Mudanjiang, Heilongjiang province, 8 in Beijing including 7 in Fengtai district and 1 in Daxing district, 4 in Hebei district, Tianjin municipality, 1 in Anshun, Guizhou province and 1 in the fourth division of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, including 2 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases in Beijing), 3 new cases of suspected infections (all were imported cases in Shanghai), and no deaths. 157 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 3,015 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. As of 24:00 on Jan 27, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 12,498 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 11,504 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 994 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Jan 27, the National Health Commission had received reports of 105,875 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 98,971 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 2,268 confirmed cases (including 9 cases in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases. 1,510,597 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 40,464 were still under medical observation.

On Jan 27, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 54 new asymptomatic cases (42 imported cases; 12 indigenous cases, 9 in Mudanjiang, Heilongjiang, 1 in Fengtai district, Beijing, 1 in Huanggang, Hubei province and 1 in the fourth division of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps). 27 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 25 imported cases) and 3 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 1 imported case). As of 24:00 on Jan 27, 808 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 696 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Jan 27, 32,095 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 13,450 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 12,687 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 79 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 18,566 in Taiwan (851 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
