Jan 23: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Jan 22, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 56 new cases of confirmed infections (37 imported cases, 13 in Shanghai municipality, 6 in Zhejiang province, 5 in Guangdong province, 4 in Sichuan province, 4 in Yunnan province, 3 in Shandong province, 1 in Fujian province and 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, including 14 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 6 in Zhejiang, 4 in Sichuan, 3 in Guangdong and 1 in Guangxi; 19 indigenous cases, 9 in Beijing municipality including 6 in Fengtai district, 2 in Fangshan district and 1 in Haidian district, 5 in Jinnan district, Tianjin municipality, 3 in Zhuhai, Guangdong, 1 in Anyang, Henan province and 1 in Xishuangbanna Dai autonomous prefecture, Yunnan, including 1 confirmed case converting from an asymptomatic case in Beijing), 3 new cases of suspected infections (all were imported cases in Shanghai), and no deaths. 197 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 6,128 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 2.

As of 24:00 on Jan 22, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 12,350 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 11,213 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,137 confirmed cases (no cases in serious condition) and 7 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Jan 22, the National Health Commission had received reports of 105,603 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 98,047 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 2,920 confirmed cases (including 10 cases in serious condition) and 7 suspected cases. 1,500,340 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 49,363 were still under medical observation.

On Jan 22, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 34 new asymptomatic cases (27 imported cases; 7 indigenous cases, 4 in Beijing, 2 in Yunnan and 1 in Guangdong). 46 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 15 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 14 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Jan 22, 751 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 694 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Jan 22, 31,249 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,932 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 12,541 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 79 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 18,238 in Taiwan (851 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
