The government work report of Guangdong province was released on Jan 20, underlining the construction of many key projects in Guangzhou's Huangpu district.
According to the report, the construction of a Guangzhou laboratory led by Zhong Nanshan, a renowned respiratory disease expert, will be pushed forward. The laboratory will be built into a comprehensive research base for the prevention and control of public health emergencies.
A human cell lineage project will begin construction on Guangzhou International Bio Island to comprehensively improve the systematic and standardized research in that field. The project has been included by Guangdong into a key project repertory to advance the construction of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Construction of the Guangzhou CanSemi Technology plants will be accelerated, with the second phase already coming into operation in December. The project is the sole platform that realizes the mass production of 12-inch chips in Guangdong.
Moreover, the report also mentions the establishment of the China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City (CSGKC) as a national knowledge center with global influence. The Regulations of CSGKC were approved at the 39th session of the Standing Committee of the 13th Guangdong Provincial People's Congress on Jan 16 as the legal reference for major reforms.
