Jan 19: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Jan 18, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 87 new cases of confirmed infections (32 imported cases, 15 in Shanghai municipality, 5 in Beijing municipality, 4 in Shandong province, 2 in Guangdong province, 2 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 2 in Sichuan province, 1 in Fujian province and 1 in Yunnan province, including 2 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, both in Sichuan; 55 indigenous cases, 33 in Henan province including 29 in Anyang, 3 in Xuchang and 1 in Zhengzhou, 14 in Tianjin municipality including 13 in Jinnan district and 1 in Xiqing district, 7 in Guangdong including 6 in Zhuhai and 1 in Shenzhen, and 1 in Haidian district, Beijing, including 2 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, both in Tianjin), 5 new cases of suspected infections (all were imported cases in Shanghai), and no deaths. 163 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 2,566 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 1.

As of 24:00 on Jan 18, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 12,200 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 10,925 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,275 confirmed cases (without cases in serious condition) and 11 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Jan 18, the National Health Commission had received reports of 105,345 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 97,255 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 3,454 confirmed cases (including 15 cases in serious condition) and 11 suspected cases. 1,489,867 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 57,290 were still under medical observation.

On Jan 18, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 37 new asymptomatic cases (35 imported cases; 2 indigenous cases including 1 in Chaoyang district, Beijing and 1 in Guangzhou, Guangdong). 26 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (25 were imported cases) and 4 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (2 were imported cases). As of 24:00 on Jan 18, 767 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 717 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Jan 18, 30,903 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,873 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 12,446 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 79 in Macao (77 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 17,951 in Taiwan (851 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
