Huangpu goes green with hydrogen power

As part of the local low-carbon green drive, 500 hydrogen energy dump trucks received their license plates in Guangzhou's Huangpu district on Jan 14.

The hydrogen energy dump trucks were purchased by a local State-owned enterprise. All of their key spare parts were developed and produced in Huangpu.

The vehicles boast sound proof performance which prevents dust pollution. They can complete hydrogen refueling from eight to 15 minutes supporting them to drive more than 400 kilometers.

The use of these 500 hydrogen energy dump trucks, which tops the country in scale, can cut carbon dioxide emissions by 35,000 metric tons and nitrogen oxide by 768 tons.

The district will replace all the diesel-empowered dump trucks with hydrogen energy ones, according to the Huangpu urban management bureau.

Hydrogen energy is hailed as the cleanest form of energy in the 21st century. The sustainable development of hydrogen energy is an important path to achieve the goal of peaking carbon dioxide emission and realizing carbon neutrality. 

Huangpu is striving to become a global first-class aggregated zone for hydrogen energy industry whose industrial scale is expected to surpass 20 billion yuan ($3.15 billion) in 2025 and 100 billion yuan in 2030.
