A freight train which departed from Nansha port in South China's Guangdong province reached Guoyuan port in Liangjiang New Area on Jan 3, saving Chongqing-based companies 30 percent in transportation time and 10 percent in logistics costs.
The arrival of the train, carrying paper rolls, plastic particles and other raw materials, signaled the successful launch of the "Nansha port – Guouan port sea-rail freight train". The cargo was previously transferred from Guangdong to Chongqing via Huangpu port, but can now travel directly from Nansha port to Guoyuan port within four days after being transported from overseas.
The route is 1,800 kilometers long, and the freight train is scheduled to run once a week, according to a staff member.
Guoyuan port will make the most of its new role as a junction between the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle and the Guangdong-Hongkong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
