Jan 15: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Jan 14, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 165 new cases of confirmed infections (61 imported cases, 43 in Shanghai municipality, 5 in Guangdong province, 3 in Fujian province, 3 in Shandong province, 2 in Tianjin municipality, 2 in Zhejiang province, 2 in Yunnan province and 1 in Liaoning province, including 4 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 3 in Guangdong and 1 in Zhejiang; 104 indigenous cases, 52 in Henan province including 37 in Anyang, 12 in Xuchang and 3 in Zhengzhou, 39 in Tianjin including 37 in Jinnan district and 2 in Xiqing district, 8 in Guangdong including 6 in Zhuhai and 2 in Shenzhen, 4 in Xi’an, Shaanxi province and 1 in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, including 2 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 1 in Tianjin and 1 in Guangdong), 6 new cases of suspected infections (all were imported cases in Shanghai), and no deaths. 145 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,762 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.

As of 24:00 on Jan 14, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 12,010 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 10,770 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,240 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 9 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Jan 14, the National Health Commission had received reports of 104,745 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 96,658 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 3,451 confirmed cases (including 11 cases in serious condition) and 9 suspected cases. 1,474,381 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 51,609 were still under medical observation.

On Jan 14, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 25 new asymptomatic cases (23 imported cases; 2 indigenous cases in Guangdong including 1 in Guangzhou and 1 in Zhuhai). 24 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 23 imported cases) and 6 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 4 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Jan 14, 743 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 689 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Jan 14, 30,625 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,854 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 12,339 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 79 in Macao (77 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 17,692 in Taiwan (851 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
