By the end of 2021, the Lenovo (Wuhan) Industrial Base hit 52.58 billion yuan ($8.26 billion) in total output, becoming Wuhan's first electronic information manufacturing player with more than 50 billion yuan in annual output.
Wuhan currently boasts seven 10-billion-yuan-level electronic information titans, six of which are located in East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China, or OVC), including Yangtze Optical Fibre and Cable Joint Stock Limited Co, FiberHome Telecommunication Technologies Co, and TCL China Star Optoelectronics Technology Co.
Integrating its own development plan with Hubei's advanced manufacturing layout that features optics, IC, displays, terminals and internet, Lenovo has grown to be a powerhouse in the electronic information sector.
By expanding investments in scientific research, accelerating product innovation, and strengthening self-reliance in new technology, new materials, and research of key spare parts, Lenovo has managed to gain more share in both the domestic and overseas market.
In addition, the company also seeks to empower Wuhan's manufacturing industry by advancing the intelligentization process of traditional manufacturers and achieving optimal distribution of production factors.
Lenovo's data and intelligent business department – one of Wuhan's diagnosis institutions for intelligent transformation – has rendered its services to over 1,000 local manufacturers.
