Since becoming a cross-border e-commerce pilot area in 2018, Guizhou's provincial capital Guiyang has become several companies' first choice in starting international trading businesses leading to the growth of cross-border e-commerce.

In 2019, Guiyang's sum volume of cross-border e-commerce transactions was 1.3 billion yuan ($203.86 million). The number increased to 2.72 billion yuan in 2020, and 2.64 billion yuan in the first 11 months of this year.

During the past three years, Guiyang has established 70,000 square meters of bonded warehouses, 8,000 sq m of supervised cross-border e-commerce warehouses, and 5,000 sq m of cold chain air transportation warehouses.

With a special logistics route, goods can be transported between Guiyang and Hong Kong in approximately 16 hours. Guiyang also established 25 overseas warehouses in other countries and regions such as the United States, Malaysia and Myanmar.

To train more cross-border e-commerce talents, Guiyang held a total of 66 training sessions last year. It also cooperated with China's e-commerce giant Alibaba to train more than 2,000 people.

The city also affiliated with Guiyang University to help 15 people start their own businesses and 40 people find employment.

Currently, Guiyang has 18 offline cross-border e-commerce shops and 43 registered cross-border e-commerce companies. The main stream customs supervision modes with codes of 1210, 9610, 9710 and 9810 are all available in the city.

Guiyang's West China import and export goods exhibition and trading center will commence operations on Dec 28. It aims to become the largest service platform for cross-border businesses in Southwest China.
