Jinan honored as Annual Symbol City of Healthy China

Jinan, capital of East China's Shandong province, was recently honored as the Annual Symbol City of Healthy China.

The title is given based on a city's achievements in healthcare services, health environment, health security, and health education.

Jinan has made outstanding achievements in promoting public health, and has made efforts to promote vaccination, namely for COVID-19 and cervical cancer.

The city has carried out COVID-19 vaccination for key groups, those aged over 18, those aged from 12 to 17, and those aged from 3 to 11, and offered COVID-19 booster shots to those over 18.

Jinan has also established a series of high-end medical research platforms focusing on respiratory diseases, tumors, and infectious disease.

Traditional Chinese medicine is also playing a key role in promoting the city's healthcare. Smart traditional Chinese medicine pharmacies in Jinan have helped improve the city's traditional Chinese medicine service by using internet technologies.

The city has established six smart TCM pharmacies which have issued 3.8 million prescriptions.
