Qingdao West Coast New Area launches English-language website

The newly-launched English-language website, which has a blue-colored interface, features five main sections: About, Media Center, Investment, Travel & Culture and Services. It displays a wide range of information about the area with a fresh and international perspective, ranging from the updated investment climate, innovative resources, culture, tourism and other local information.

The new area's Facebook page @QingdaoWCNA debuted in September. It focuses on four major sections covering the economy, culture, tourism, and ecology, and it has reached about 2.8 million page views, with 81,600 users from home and abroad interacted on the page, according to the preliminary data from September to December.

Backed by China Daily and Qingdao West Coast New Area, the new online portals aim to raise the global profile of one of the most innovative areas in East China's Shandong province and provide information services for expats in the city.

The Qingdao West Coast New Area is the only State-level new area in Shandong. It spans an area covering 2,128 square kilometers on land and 5,000 kilometers on the sea with four major national projects such as managing marine development, integrating innovation, building a FTZ, and establishing innovative institutions.

China Daily, which was founded in 1981, is a leading news agency in China with a growing international audience. It has become the country's most influential English-language multimedia outlet with over 200 English-language websites for local governments, institutions and enterprises.
