Jan 10: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Jan 9, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 157 new cases of confirmed infections (60 imported cases, 26 in Shanghai municipality, 8 in Guangdong province, 6 in Yunnan province, 5 in Fujian province, 4 in Tianjin municipality, 3 in Zhejiang province, 3 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 2 in Liaoning province, 1 in Henan province, 1 in Hunan province, and 1 in Sichuan province, including 4 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 2 in Zhejiang, 1 in Hunan and 1 in Sichuan; 97 indigenous cases, 60 in Henan including 24 in Zhengzhou, 21 in Xuchang and 15 in Anyang, 21 in Jinnan district, Tianjin, 15 in Xi'an, Shaanxi province, and 1 in Shenzhen, Guangdong), 3 new cases of suspected infections (all were imported cases in Shanghai), and no deaths. 145 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 2,001 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 1.

As of 24:00 on Jan 9, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 11,688 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 10,604 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,084 confirmed cases (including 3 cases in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Jan 9, the National Health Commission had received reports of 103,776 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 95,736 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 3,404 confirmed cases (including 27 cases in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases. 1,455,102 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 43,224 were still under medical observation.

On Jan 9, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 42 new asymptomatic cases (40 imported cases; 2 indigenous cases in Jinnan district, Tianjin). 14 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 13 imported cases) and 4 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (all were imported cases). As of 24:00 on Jan 9, 699 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 668 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Jan 9, 30,227 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,786 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 12,284 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 79 in Macao (77 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 17,362 in Taiwan (850 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
