Hechi's cocoon silk industry records positive growth

In recent years, Hechi's goal of building a 100-billion-yuan ($15.7 billion)  sericulture and cocoon silk industry cluster has been continuously expanding the industrial chain of sericulture and cocoon silk. In December 2020, Hechi was awarded the "China's Silk New Capital" title.

From January to November 2021, the output value of the cocoon silk processing industry in Hechi was 2.67 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 17.64 percent. It is the only city in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region where the textile industry has maintained positive growth throughout the year.

The development of the cocoon silk industry has attracted attention at home and abroad. At the first China Silk Industry High-Quality Development Conference and Hechi Silk Industry Investment Summit held on Dec 10, 2021, many attendees said that in addition to the domestic market, companies from Italy, the United States, France, India and other places have expressed interest in Hechi's silk products.

Nowadays, more and more "Hechi-made" cocoon silk products are selling worldwide along the "Belt and Road." In order to help Hechi cocoon silk boost sales abroad, Hechi Customs adopted remote image-aided inspection for raw silk exports. The inspection time was shortened from one or two days to eight to15 minutes, saving the company about 4,000 yuan per metric ton in transportation costs.
