The project was led by the National Center for AIDS/STD Control and Prevention of the China CDC and completed jointly with multiple agencies and organizations. It won the second prize at the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association Awards in 2019.
In this project, key laboratory technologies for the surveillance of new HIV infections were established and core technical parameters of new HIV infections suitable for the Chinese population were obtained. A domestic HIV new infection detection reagent was also successfully developed, filling a gap in China.
Regarding prevention and control, the project took the lead in using laboratory testing cross-sectional samples to monitor new HIV infections, effectively discovering hot spots, hot populations and new epidemic trends.
The research provided indispensable technical support for new HIV infections' monitoring, prevention and control in China, and has been widely applied across the country.
