The 21st Century Economic Research Institute – a leading domestic new-generation think tank – issued the quality report on China's economic and technological development zones on Dec 29. Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) was among the top 10, and was also considered to have the fastest growth in terms of business environment among the 30 national development zones.
WHDZ has been redoubling reform efforts to delegate authority, streamline government affairs and optimize government services, and has achieved remarkable results.
In 2021, the government has cut more than 1.1 billion yuan ($171.6 million) in expenses, which has stimulated markets.
Two more enterprises based in the zone were successfully listed this year, with eight firms likely to go public next year.
In addition, the number of market entities has surged by nearly 10,000, with the growth rate exceeding the municipal average.
