Dec 31: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Dec 30, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 195 new cases of confirmed infections (29 imported cases, 9 in Shanghai municipality, 4 in Tianjin municipality, 3 in Guangdong province, 3 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 3 in Sichuan province, 2 in Hunan province, 2 in Yunnan province, 1 in Liaoning province, 1 in Zhejiang province and 1 in Fujian province, including 3 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 1 in Tianjin, 1 in Guangdong and 1 in Sichuan; 166 indigenous cases, 165 in Shaanxi province including 161 in Xi’an, 2 in Xianyang and 2 in Yan'an, and 1 in Yuncheng, Shanxi province, including 1 confirmed case converting from asymptomatic case in Shanxi), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai), and no deaths. 42 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 7,449 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.

As of 24:00 on Dec 30, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 11,083 cases of imported confirmed infections (reduced by 1 after verification) and no deaths. In all, 10,304 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 779 confirmed cases (reduced by 1 after verification, including 4 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Dec 30, the National Health Commission had received reports of 102,083 confirmed cases (reduced by 2 after verification) and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 94,733 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 2,714 confirmed cases (reduced by 2 after verification, including 15 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases. 1,420,758 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 46,232 were still under medical observation.

On Dec 30, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 29 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 20 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 19 imported cases) and 4 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 3 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Dec 30, 512 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 484 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Dec 30, 29,697 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,630 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 12,196 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 79 in Macao (77 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 16,988 in Taiwan (850 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
