Dec 29: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Dec 28, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 197 new cases of confirmed infections (45 imported cases, 11 in Shanghai municipality, 7 in Tianjin municipality, 6 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 6 in Sichuan province, 4 in Zhejiang province, 4 in Guangdong province, 3 in Yunnan province, 2 in Fujian province, 1 in Shandong province and 1 in Shaanxi province, including 7 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 6 in Sichuan and 1 in Zhejiang; 152 indigenous cases, 151 in Xi’an, Shaanxi and 1 in Nanjing, Jiangsu province), 2 new cases of suspected infections (both were imported cases in Shanghai), and no deaths. 57 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 2,771 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 2.

As of 24:00 on Dec 28, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 11,004 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 10,253 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 751 confirmed cases (including 3 cases in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Dec 28, the National Health Commission had received reports of 101,683 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 94,632 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 2,415 confirmed cases (including 14 cases in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases. 1,414,788 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 51,593 were still under medical observation.

On Dec 28, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 15 new asymptomatic cases (14 imported cases; 1 indigenous case in Wuxi, Jiangsu). 8 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 7 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Dec 28, 496 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 466 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Dec 28, 29,632 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,604 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 12,189 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 78 in Macao (77 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 16,950 in Taiwan (850 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
