Dec 28: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Dec 27, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 209 new cases of confirmed infections (27 imported cases, 8 in Shanghai municipality, 6 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 2 in Fujian province, 2 in Shandong province, 2 in Guangdong province, 2 in Yunnan province, 2 in Shaanxi province, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Zhejiang province and 1 in Chongqing municipality; 182 indigenous cases, 180 in Shaanxi including 175 in Xi’an, 3 in Xianyang and 2 in Yan’an, 1 in Shaoxing, Zhejiang and 1 in Kunming, Yunnan, no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 92 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 2,436 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 1.

As of 24:00 on Dec 27, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 10,959 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 10,228 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 731 confirmed cases (including 3 cases in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Dec 27, the National Health Commission had received reports of 101,486 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 94,575 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 2,275 confirmed cases (including 12 cases in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases. 1,413,092 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 52,672 were still under medical observation.

On Dec 27, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 21 new asymptomatic cases (18 imported cases; 3 indigenous cases, 2 in Xishuangbanna Dai autonomous prefecture, Yunnan, 1 in Tongren, Guizhou province). 20 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 19 imported cases) and no asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Dec 27, 496 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 467 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Dec 27, 29,607 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,598 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 12,189 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 78 in Macao (77 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 16,931 in Taiwan (850 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
