Dec 25: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Dec 24, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 140 new cases of confirmed infections (53 imported cases, 15 in Shanghai municipality, 9 in Tianjin municipality, 8 in Shaanxi province, 6 in Guangdong province, 5 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 4 in Hunan province, 2 in Yunnan province, 1 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Fujian province, 1 in Shandong province and 1 in Sichuan province, including 9 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 4 in Hunan, 4 in Shaanxi and 1 in Sichuan; 87 indigenous cases, 78 in Shaanxi including 75 in Xi’an, 2 in Yan'an and 1 in Xianyang, 5 in Fangchenggang, Guangxi and 4 in Kunming, Yunnan), 6 new cases of suspected infections (all were imported cases, 4 in Shanghai and 2 in Zhejiang), and no deaths. 110 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 5,113 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.

As of 24:00 on Dec 24, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 10,846 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 10,150 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 696 confirmed cases (including 3 cases in serious condition) and 10 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Dec 24, the National Health Commission had received reports of 100,871 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 94,354 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,881 confirmed cases (including 9 cases in serious condition) and 10 suspected cases. 1,403,530 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 53,923 were still under medical observation.

On Dec 24, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 24 new asymptomatic cases (20 imported cases; 4 indigenous cases in Fangchenggang, Guangxi). 20 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 9 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Dec 24, 492 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 452 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Dec 24, 29,505 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,555 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 12,189 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 77 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 16,873 in Taiwan (850 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
