Guangdong will spare no effort to comprehensively deepen reform and adhere to innovation-driven development to promote high-quality development in the coming new year, Chen Jianwen, a member of the Standing Committee of the Guangdong Committee of the Communist Party of China, said at a news conference on Thursday.
The province will also work to advance the construction of Qianhai and Hengqin cooperation zones in 2022, he added.
Chen, who heads the Publicity Department of the committee, said that Guangdong will further raise its innovative capacity in science and technology to improve the core competitiveness of its manufacturing industry. It will also make great efforts to become a high-level example of Chinese culture in the new year, he said.
Meanwhile Guangdong will redouble its efforts to revitalize rural economy and achieve coordinated development of urban and rural areas to improve people's livelihoods, he said.
Zheng Renhao, director-general of Guangdong's Development and Reform Commission, said the province plans to invest 900 billion yuan ($140.63 billion) in construction of key projects next year, an increase of 100 billion yuan over this year.
Guangdong began construction this year on more than 4,500 major and key projects, with a total investment more than 4.5 trillion yuan, Zheng said.
Meanwhile, measures will be introduced to help expand domestic consumption, boost foreign trade, support the real economy and ensure stable electrical supplies in the coming year, Zheng said.
